Skiffen
A skiff is a high performance sailing boat usually equipped with sails that are large or even too large and an asymmetric spinnaker. This means that the crew have to use a trapeze to keep the boat in balance, resulting in spectacular speeds.
High Performance sailing is a common feature of competition sailing these days. This type of sailing is playing an increasingly prominent role in the world of sailing. Think of the Americas Cup, The Extreme 40 multi hulls and the Volvo Open 70’s.
In open boats, it is also a growing area in sailing sport. Several types of skiffs, like the musto skiff, the various TS types and the flying Moth give sailors an amzaing feeling because of the speeds they can experience. The Group is completed with the 29er, 29erXX and the Olympic 49er. In the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg there is a growing group of skiff sailors.
Why Bruinisse?
Training courses are organised regularly from Jachthaven Bruinisse. The larger the group, the more information can be exchanged between participants. Sailing together and learning together is always best!

The Open Dutch Skiff Regatta will be held on 8 and 9 september 2012, sailing just in front of the marina at Bruinisse. This is the largest skiff competition in the Benelux.
So let´s go skiff sailing together and remember: Bruinisse is the place to be for skiff sailing!

- The new marina on the Grevelingenmeer has an extra wide trailer slipway that is ideal for skiffs
- Jachthaven Bruinisse has fantastic facilities, enough parking space, spacious showers, a water sports shop, a restaurant and a supermarket
- There is a large open area at the front of the marina so that it is well suited for skiff sailing
